2025 IANPHI Annual Meeting


The 2025 IANPHI Annual Meeting was held on April 9 - 10, 2025 in Maputo, Mozambique and hosted by the National Institute of Health of Mozambique. This year, the main theme of the meeting was "The role of NPHIs in promoting healthy, equitable and resilient societies to tackle current and future threats".

Side meetings were held by invitation on April 11.

The IANPHI Annual Meeting is for NPHIs Directors (or their representatives) and IANPHI partners and guests only. Registration is required to attend.

The event was held in person in the Radisson Blu hotel in Maputo and some sessions were accessible virtually.

Practical Information

Participants can book a room in the hotel of the event by visiting the hotel booking page.

Maputo International Airport is located 6,6 kilometers (4,1 miles) northwest of the Radisson Blue hotel. Depending on the traffic, it takes around 15 minutes to reach the hotel.

  • The Radisson Blu Hotel does have airport transfer services that it charges 25 USD per way per vehicle and 45 USD both ways (airport – hotel – airport). Shuttle services operate 24/7 as long as flight details are shared prior to arrival. They can be booked at the following e-mail: Orisia.nhantumbo@radissonblu.com
  • By Taxi: Upon arrival at the airport, there are yellow cars, duly identified as taxis, that provide taxi services and are parked outside the airport. The ride to the hotel is between 12 and 16 USD.

The currency in Mozambique is the Mozambican Meticais (MZN).

1 MZN = 0,015 EUR

1 MZN = 0,016 USD

You can pay for local services both in cash and card.

Banking hours are from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm on weekdays and most banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Banking amenities are available at all commercial banks; local and regional banks hold agreement with a variety of credit card networks. VISA cards are the most common. A growing number of places accept credit and debit cards, before travelling, please check with your bank to reduce charges.

The weather in Maputo in April is warm and tropical. Average temperatures range from 20°C to 28°C, with occasional rainy days. Daytime temperatures are generally high, so we recommend wearing light, breathable clothing and sun protection.

POWER SOCKETS

Sockets/outlets in Mozambique are type C, type J, and type M. The Radisson Blu hotel is using type M outlet. The standard voltage is 220 V with a frequency of 50 Hz. We advise you to bring an adapter.

We recommend all participants to start the visa process as soon as possible. Please do not underestimate the time needed to acquire a visa.

To enter Mozambique for the IANPHI Annual Meeting you must:

  1. Be in possession of a valid passport, which is valid for at least 6 months and has at least 2 empty pages.
  2. Be in possession of a proof of booked accommodation for your stay in Mozambique.
  3. Be in possession of a round-trip ticket.
  4. Allow adequate time to apply for the required Visa if applicable and be aware that IANPHI does not cover fees associated with Visa requests.
    NB: Please, check your personal situation regarding the need or not to apply for a Visa.

Three different situations can apply depending on your nationality:

a) You are a SADC citizen (Southern African Development Community: Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe):

You can enter Mozambique freely for 30 days at a time, up to 90 days in total within a year. You only need a valid passport with a 30-days remaining validity.

b) You are a citizen from a Visa exempt country (Canada, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Israel, United States of America, Russia, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Republic of Korea, Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Finland, Indonesia, Ireland, Republic of Singapore, Ghana, Senegal, Germany, France, Italia, China):

You do not need to apply for a visa for a less than 30-day stay. However, you will need to pay a "fee" (650 MZN, approx. €9) upon arrival at the airport. You also need to provide a letter of invitation since you are traveling for business reasons. The IANPHI Secretariat and the INS Mozambique can provide you the document.

c) You are a citizen from any other country: You need to apply for a visa in advance. You can do so through Mozambique's online eVisa portal or by visiting your local Mozambican embassy. You will have to pay a fee and to provide several documents, including a letter of invitation. The IANPHI Secretariat and the INS Mozambique can provide you this document.

Participants can collect their badge before the beginning of the meeting.

Participants who register to attend virtually will receive a Zoom link. When accessing the zoom platform, please indicate your name, organization and country (for example: Sarah Fernandes, IANPHI Secretariat, France).

The IANPHI Annual Meeting provides a unique opportunity to highlight the role of national public health institutes within the global health community.
