Director General Geir Stene-Larsen is trained as a medical doctor and has worked as a specialist in internal medicine in several major hospitals in Norway. He has also been a researcher engaged in basic research, clinical research, and community health research. He has served as senior advisor to the health minister and currently holds a position on the board of the Norwegian Research Council.
