Call for Abstracts

The Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) Fourth Regional Conference will be held September 28 - October 1, 2015, in Aqaba, Jordan. With a focus on the field epidemiology work currently being done in the region, the Conference has three aims:

  1. Present the accomplishments of field epidemiologists and public health professionals from the EMR.
  2. Engage members of the public health workforce and international and regional entities in discussion of priority public health concerns for the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
  3. Facilitate experience exchange and knowledge sharing among public health professionals and entities to encourage regional coordination.

Public health officers from NPHIs are invited to participate, and more information is available on the Conference website. Institutional partnerships and sponsorships are available.

Abstracts are now being accepted for posters and oral presentations at the Conference. Interested participants should carefully read the Submission Instructions and note that abstracts are due on July 15, 2015. 


Since 2009, the Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) has worked to promote public health acoss the Mediterranean Region, with a focus on field epidemiology. Aiming to "enhance health status in the region by promoting country capacity in applied epidemiology with special emphasis on surveillance and outbreak investigations," EMPHNET currently supports field epidemiology training programs (FETP) in 7 countries. In patnership with the FETPs provide a two-year training program in applied epidemiology, equipping a country's public health workforce to more quickly and effectively respond to pulic health threats.

In addition to FETPs, EMPHNET facilitates networking, knowledge exchange, collaborations, the creation of new initiatives, and response to emerging public health needs. Learn more about EMPHNET >>
