With the support of the IANPHI U.S. Office, the Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) has developed its own website as well as a social media presence – providing valuable information to donors, public health officials, and the greater community in Malawi and around the world. At a training course held in May 2014 at the IANPHI U.S. Office in Atlanta, PHIM representative Mr. Billy Nyambalo gained the skills needed to maintain and further develop the site.

PHIM’s website is now up and running, and all responsibility is led by Mr. Nyambalo. The site provides information on the structure and activities of PHIM, in addition to up-to-date information on the latest meetings, events, and public health announcements from PHIM leadership.

While at the training, Mr. Nyambalo also developed the institute’s social media sites – including Facebook and Twitter. These sites provide tools for reaching a wide audience with relevant health messages, and Malawi’s PHIM looks forward to integrating these new communication tools into their work. IANPHI is working to develop similar trainings for other NPHIs interested in expanding their online presence. Please contact IANPHI for more information.
