RFP: Announcement to Host IANPHI Secretariat

The IANPHI Executive Board, during its October 2 meeting in Mexico City, discussed the future of the IANPHI Secretariat and agreed to create a Request for Proposals (RFP) for member institutes willing to host the Secretariat in 2014-2017.

The EB request is the result of discussion during the IANPHI annual meeting during which immediate past president Jeffrey Koplan noted that the current grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is ending and member dues do not cover the cost of both the Secretariat and the annual meeting. After reviewing options—finding additional funds for the Secretariat, maintaining the current Secretariat in Helsinki but cutting costs, or changing the location of the Secretariat—members decided that the Executive Board should entertain proposals from member institutes interested in hosting the Secretariat. The IANPHI Executive Board at its 2011 Helsinki and 2012 Berlin meetings defined the IANPHI Secretariat’s main responsibilities as:

• Membership Activities: coordination of the member network including membership registry, membership directory, membership solicitation, and e-mailed membership updates (please note that the website and newsletter will be handled by the U.S. team through 2015).

• IANPHI Foundation: dues collection or waivers, recordkeeping, and financial reporting to IANPHI Foundation Board and membership.

• Annual Meeting: meeting program (in consultation with EB), support to annual meeting local host during planning phase and during and after the meeting.

• Executive Board: organization of meetings or teleconferences, meeting materials and notes; EB communications.

• Advocacy and Fundraising: raising the organization’s international profile and engagement and funds to support its mission.

IANPHI members received the RFP in a separate e-mail. It is also available here >>.
