IANPHI Approves Two New Board Members

National public health institute directors from Mozambique and Mexico have joined IANPHI's policy-making board. IANPHi members voted to add the newcomers to the 11-member Executive Board during the 2012 Annual Meeting held recently in Mexico City.

Ilesh Jani, Mozambique (National Institute of Health)
Mauricio Hernández Àvila, Mexico (National Institute of Public Health, INSP)

Also serving on the board for the next three years will be Jeffrey Koplan, USA, director of Emory Global Health Institute and past president of IANPHI. His nomination to the board as immediate past president was confirmed at the Annual Meeting when members approved a constitutional amendment creating the new EB position.

Two other slots remain open on the EB and are expected to be filled next year.

The General Assembly also confirmed the partnership between IANPHI and the International Agency of Research on Cancer ( IARC)  of the World Health Organization.

IANPHI is grateful to these retiring members of the EB and thanks them for their tireless energy and dedication to strengthening and linking the world's public health institutes:

Rajae El-Aouad, Morocco (National Institute of Hygiene)
Mario Henry Rodriguez, Mexico (National Institute of Public Health, INSP)
Amabelia Rodrigues, Guinea-Bissau (National Institute of Public Health, INASA)
Justin McCracken, UK (Health Protection Agency)
