IANPHI Summer School
Helsinki, FinlandCourse Location: National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) in Helsinki, Finland
The 4th IANPHI Summer School is jointly organized by the new Finnish national public health institute, National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and IANPHI. The course topics will include the role of an NPHI in health policy planning, epidemiology and control of infectious and chronic diseases, environmental health, and support for health services. Working methods will include presentations by THL senior experts, and participants along with group discussions. In addition, specialists of the World Health Organization (WHO) will be invited to give special presentations on international aspects on noncommunicable and infectious disease control.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Please submit your application to Summer School by 15th March 2010 using the register for this event -tool on top of this page. Decisions will be given by April 4 2010 and accepted applicants are notified by e-mail.
GUIDELINES FOR TRAVEL GRANT APPLICATIONS
Eligibility
International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) is awarding travel grants for the course “Role and Function of a Comprehensive National Public Health Institute” organized at the National Institute for Health and Welfare THL, Helsinki Finland, June 7-11, 2010. Priority is given to applicants coming from low or lower-middle income countries. In some occasions travel grant can also be granted for applicants from high middle-income countries.

Procedure
Applicants are requested to submit a course application by using the register for this event -tool at the top of this page and filling a separate travel grant application form, and short CV (max 3 pages). After submitting the electronic course application, please send the completed travel grant application form and CV preferably by e-mail to: katja.heikkilainen@thl.fi or by fax to +358 20 610 8932. Please use subject heading “IANPHI course June 2010”. All application materials should be in English. Schedule
Deadline for travel grant applications is March 15, 2010. Grant decisions are given by April 4 2010. Grantees are notified on the decision by e-mail.
Grant Conditions
IANPHI travel grant will cover only economy class air fare. Travel arrangements will be taken care by IANPHI. Please note that original boarding passes are required.
