The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) focuses on optimizing and developing the capacity of existing healthcare providers. On a day-to-day basis, staff expand the disease surveillance network with the aid of information technology, set up a structured epidemiology training program, enhance laboratory services, develop applied research, and prepare emergency response plans. In the event of an outbreak, the CHP is equipped for timely and effective risk communication and a prompt response mechanism.
CHP is made up of six departments: Emergency Response & Information, Infection Control, Programme Management & Professional Development , Public Health Laboratory Services, Public Health Services, and Surveillance & Epidemiology.
